15270 Lanobre

Built in the 15th century, the Val is one of the best-preserved and most remarkable castles in the Haute-Auvergne region. This imposing fortress is flanked by six towers crowned with machicolated parapets and a candle-snuffer roof. The different types of roofing add a gleaming, colourful touch to the Val. A 15th century gothic chapel (historical monument) in the main courtyard is dedicated to Saint Blaise. It hosts an exhibition featuring photos of the valley before, during, and after the construction of the Bort-les-Orgues dam.
