La Chaise-Dieu Sacred Music Festival
19-30 August 2015 (49th edition)
Every year this sacred festival attracts some 25,000 music lovers, who flock here to enjoy a winning combination: a heady mix of styles performed in a sublime setting.
The village of La Chaise-Dieu, in the Livradois-Forez Regional Nature Park, holds one of France's premier classical music festivals.
The venue is the 14th century St. Robert Abbey Church. Be sure to admire the freco painting the 'Dans Macabre' (Dance of Death), as well as the famous tapestries in the choir.
Also visit the "Salle de l'écho", a unique room that allows you to hear the person across the room speaking in a whisper.
